Returned to work on 3rd Jan after 1st and 2nd off and the first thing that happens is one of the assistants partner phones in to say he's sick. Really good member of the team but its a little suspect as he has had Wed Thur off as well and would you want to work the Friday. However he could have been sick and he might have been genuine but then again it was Hogmany and we get two days in Scotland for a reason
I was all for sitting him down and giving him the serious back to work talk on Monday (though with benefit of the doubt thrown in of course) and then he phones in on Monday am to say he won't be in till later as they have had a break in. This is totally real and true and I do belive it but it totally affects how i deal with the sickness absence now.
Can't be strict cause he's just been through bad event but at the same time got to follow our very harsh protocol. What would you do?
It doesn't help that due to personal issues (see my other blog) and our pc's crashing every 5 bloody seconds. (Guess IT didn't want to come back either) all my resolutions are slipping away every so gently.
be firm, be strong, hide under the desk and hope for the end of the world
